Plan B...

I've been showing you some of my choices for a bed to go in our 2nd guest bedroom.  And while it is always good to have ideas in place, it is also good to have a backup plan...a Plan B.   Never go into a situation without a second option.

While our original idea is to have a bed with a few other embellishments in this room, the hubster and I have also discussed not making it a traditional bedroom, but using it as a multi-purpose room.  To make it a multi-purpose room - a bedroom and a place for him to sit to play guitar - we looked at sleeper sofas, along with a couple of chairs, a small table, etc.

If I decide to go with Plan B, I would step all the way outside of my box and go with a completely different look....

....similar to the one above.  Sort of a mid-century modern look.  I've always wanted to flip a mid-century modern house and stage it with all mid-century modern furniture.  Hey, I can dream, right?!

A sofa bed is a great compromise for this room.  It offers a place for guests to sleep, but also a place for them to sit and relax prior to bedtime.

I love the design of the sofa.  It is so sleek and modern with a retro flair!  The chairs are a nice compliment to the straight lines of the sofa.  The table is totally modern, but blends nicely with the other pieces.

The chandelier also has clean lines...pretty but is unobtrusive.  I like the grouping of frames for the wall.  The hubster's guitar and cigar humidor would provide a dark color contrast with the light colored furniture.

So there's an idea of my Plan B for the 2nd guest bedroom.  Decisions, decisions!!

  1. This is very glamorous, Benita. You have really good taste! It seems like this would be a good solution so that your hubster has a space to use, as well. Looking forward to seeing what route you take ;)

    1. Thank you so much! I really like this furniture, but it always falls back to finding something similar within the budget...that nasty budget....LOL Hugs!!

  2. Beautiful feel. It reminds of the classic 1950's-1960's movies. I can just see Cary Grant or Fred Astaire Waltz into the room. Love it.

    1. We both really like this idea...multi-purpose, multi-functional. I think it would also break the budget, but finding something similar would be ideal! Hugs!

  6. This is a very cool plan, I really love that sofa. I'm just starting to look seriously at this mid-century modern look and I hope we see more of it in homes.

I can imagine the decisions are hard but this sounds like a winner!

  7. So very cool my friend. I know what ever you decide it will be amazing. They are making a lot of sleeper sofa's with better mattress's now so your guests do not have to sleep on the old uncomfortable mattress anymore. I even heard Tempur Pedic has a sofa sleeper mattress.

    1. Thank you ma'am! I love the new look of the sleeper sofas and yes, the mattresses are greatly improved. I saw one that had the Tempur Pedic mattress...the price almost gave me a Fred Sanford heart attack...lovely, but expensive. I hope things are going well sweet friend...please keep me updated! Love and hugs to you!!

  8. Glamorous is the word I thought immediately and I can see that others thought the same thing. I don't think you can go wrong with this. We used a sofa bed for guests for years and it was great. We actually still have that sofa upstairs.

    1. The hubster is all about this look and this furniture does have a vintage glam to it. I do love it and am now wondering why I didn't look for something like this for downstairs...LOL I think sofa beds are so comfy and have such cozy qualities...it's like a two-fer and you know how I love those! :-) Hugs!!

  10. The sofa bed is a great option! The whole plan B is way outside the box for me too but I like it! Funky retro! I would love to decorate every room in my house a different style.

    1. AnnMarie, so would I!! I love so many different looks that I would have 10 bedrooms and each one would be totally different! I like the retro look also and we may be finding something comparable to this for this guest room! Hugs sweet friend!!
