Scents Of The Season...

We all have our favorite scents of the holiday.....cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, vanilla, hazelnut, turkey, ham, apples, pears, coffee, cocoa, pheasant...although I really have no idea what pheasant smells like, come to think of it, so let's remove it from the list.

Fortunately, I've got a few things that just make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I smell them.  No, the list does not include pheasant and yes, I will share them with you!

Tis The Season from Bath & Body Works combines a couple of great scents...apples, cinnamon and a little bit of pine.
I have one of these plugged in to welcome guests as they enter our home.  This scent is so welcoming...I just love it!  I'm really glad it doesn't contain a large amount of pine scent...I don't think anyone wants to get a whiff of a Pine-Sol wallflower plug-in. ~shiver~

I also love the smell of Gingerbread Cake baking in the oven.

I wrote a post earlier this year about a wonderful recipe that was given to me.  If you click on Gingerbread Cake, you can read that post and print the recipe!  If you just want the recipe, flip over to my Recipes page!

These candles are among my most favorites...for the holiday season or all year long!

You can purchase them online or find a store near you.   Let me tell you how great they are....I drive over an hour to get to the store that carries the scent I like....Hazelnut Coffee.  Yes, they all smell wonderful, but this scent is my favorite and well worth the drive!

Sooooo, there are just a few of my favs for the holiday...what are some of yours?

  1. I have two of those Tis the Season wallflowers plugged in right now in my house also - see, kindred spirits!! One of my other faves is also by BBW - their Winter scent. I buy the hand soap, wallflowers, and candles. I use it all winter long. Love, love, love. xoxoxo

  3. I'll be making the gingerbread cake! One of my favorite smells! My others are fresh greenery and clove oranges. I can't do plug ins...they are too strong and make my nose run so I must rely on the real deal. I wish I had a big hunk of that cake right now...sounds so good!

  4. I love finding out my friend's favorites. I'd love to smell that candle! Have you tried putting your favorite coffee beans in a vintage mason jar and sticking a tapered candle in the middle? I ALWAYS have one of those on hand on my coffee bar.

    1. I love those also, but the hubster gets a little freaky with those, so I stick to the wallflowers. It is a great recipe.....you will love it and it is perfect for the holidays! Hope you had a great weekend! Hugs!

  7. I have to be careful with the scents I have in the house but pine (Yankee Candle Mistletoe) is one of my fav's. I also love a peppermint candle burning. I will have to check out the southern firefly line!

  8. love the smell of FRESH REAL pine! I've never found a good replica yet.
    and gingerbread! a definite favorite.
scented candles burning make my eyes water and my nose close up. don't know why. miserable allergy!
i've tried all kinds... all brands... matters not if they're reasonable or expensive. results are the same. weird.
just something in them. sad! some of the names of them are delightful. and the hazelnut SOUNDS divine!

    1. I've not found one that I really like either. They came out with those little things you can hang in your tree, but they smell a little off to me...that's why I go with other scents. I'm so sorry about your allergies....I know that is miserable! I react the same way to most potpourri...which is crazy since the candles and plug-ins don't bother me. The hazelnut makes you want to eat the candle...LOL Love and hugs!!

  9. I love candles from all of the top places, can you beat Sweater Weather from Bath And Body Works...I stock up on it for all year!! I recently bought a wax warmer from Yankee. You plug it in but the wax is in a little plastic cup so there is no spilling horrible cleaning. Automatic shut off, too. At $19 it's a perfect gift, too. The wall/electric socket thingies are very toxic...I'm being a downer here. I set one down on my wood coffee table, it leaked a bit and ate through the varnish and a layer of wood. And we breathe that in? I stick with candles and the scented wax. :)))

    1. I don’t know that I’ve smelled the Sweater Weather…will have to run over and give it a sniff!  You are so right about the plug-in oils….they will definitely eat through anything…which makes me nervous, but they smell so good!  I figure it’s better than huffing paint, well, maybe not really…LOL…but just as addictive.  The hubster is a fire investigator, so I have to be careful with burning candles…it usually elicits a small lecture if I walk away from one, but I endure because they too smell so wonderful! I will check out the Yankee candle deal…I love the wax melts and have a couple of tabletop burners. Hugs!!

  10. I love putting the spice mix on the stove...water and cinnamon sticks and some orange peel and cloves...makes the kitchen smell amazing!
And anything baking in the oven is the best smell ever...and that gingerbread recipe looks amazing...so going to try that one!

    1. You will love the gingerbread! And ditto on the spice mix....it is truly amazing!! Since I've had the egg debacle, I try to stay away from leaving anything unattended on the stove...LOL...I can plug something in the wall and walkaway...I'm better at monitoring monthly! :-) Hugs!!

  11. Fresh greenery is my favorite holiday scent. Most candles and room fragrances are too strong for me, but there is a candle with a scent called A Walk in the Woods that makes the house smell fresh.
