This Is Halloween.....

...I just love this song by Panic at the Disco.  And here is a cool little video from Just Dance 3 for Wii....see if you can dance along! :-)

By the way, did you all learn how to do the Time Warp?  There will be a test! :-)

Ok, so where was I....oh yeah....

Well....he was outside when I drove by...the kids were carving their Halloween pumpkins.  I stopped, we chatted and agreed to see each other later that evening at the haunted barn.

We met up at the haunted barn and spent the rest of the evening chatting and found we had more things in common.  It seemed as though it was going to take him forever to ask for my number.  Now, I'm a forward kinda chick, but my phone number is not something I just throw at men.

He finally asked for it....right before he left that night....and waited two flippin' weeks to call!  I had almost written him off by then....sheesh...

Our date was for lunch and we went to a really cool place in Birmingham....they served all different kinds of soup and sandwiches, it was very eclectic and had some really cool stuff to photograph (one of the things we have in common).  Is this where I told him was a picky eater and didn't really eat soup (unless it was a certain kind) or sandwiches?  Yep, no need in wasting money.  I was able to find something on the menu to eat, but I was way too nervous to really eat.   You know what I mean?

It was during our lunch conversation that I found out I was 10 years older...and I decided I probably shouldn't go out with him again.  Then, I thought what the heck...it wasn't like we were getting married or anything, right?!  Why not have some fun!

We went on quite a few more dates and got married on the 4th of July.  We both wanted to get married on Halloween, obviously, and have everyone attend in costume.   The bestie nixed that right down the line AND we were ready to get on with our life, so we didn't wait.  BUT, we do like to have a Halloween party every year so that we can celebrate our chance meeting.

This year, our special party is to get acquainted with all of our new neighbors!

I hope you all have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

  1. Awww, that's so sweet! And it was obviously meant to be, a marriage made in heaven!

And may I say, having met Benita, that she looks 20 years younger than she is, so that makes Hubster 10 years older than her!

    Happy Halloween, beautiful lady!

    1. I know, right?! When we had our 2nd date, it was an evening of watching movies at my house. He stayed until 3:00 in the morning....with my youngest standing over him most of the time...LOL. It was hilarious. The hubster, of course then he was the BF, barely kissed me the entire night...it was too funny!

    1. We definitely don’t do things the normal way, that’s for sure…and a Halloween party keeps everyone from being so nervous and having to make conversation…just takes some of the pressure off! Thanks so much! Love and hugs to you!!

  6. Great story! I love every detail of it! It wasn't until now that I realized that it is similar to my husband's and my story too! He was running a Halloween event at our church called Revelation House and I signed up to help. He gave me the part of the angel tour guide. My girls were in it too. The rest is history :-)

  10. Thank goodness this was a happy story and not a scary one...ah ha ha...I am still recovering from the photo of skinny Willie's ghoul friend... ;)
Loved reading this story and it was fate for sure...I met my husband a similar way.
Well even though you didn't get married on Halloween, it's nice that you still celebrate it as your 'meeting Anniversary'!
I hope you made lots and lots of new friends at your Halloween party, although how could they not love you?

  11. I love a good love story! And I'm the nosy sort so it's letting me get to know you a lot better! I think it's great that you are hosting a party and getting to know neighbors, I'm a little on the shy side. It would have been neat if you had gotten married on Halloween, but heck, have you ever dressed up as a goth bride and groom? Ha! Hubby and I had our first date on December 14 in the Empire Room at the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago. We got married on December 14, the following year in the Crystal Room of the Palmer House Hotel. And we totally didn't plan it that way, it was the only date they had open in December!

    Happy Spook Day!

    1. Oh how wonderful…a Christmas wedding!! And snow?! Please tell me you had snow on the ground…even if you didn’t…LOL I always wanted a winter/Christmas wedding…and surprisingly, my anniversary to the first hubby was December 14…LOL…we were two too young kids and had no idea what we were getting into and it wasn’t a wedding at all. I’m not shy, obviously…LOL…and I don’t think you are nosy. When I meet people, I ask so many questions because it is how I get to know people at first and then I just listen and watch to find out the rest! Hope you had a wonderful Halloween and are fully recovered from being sick! Hugs to you!! : -)

    1. Thank you so much Carla and thank you for reading it! :-) We had a great time with the new neighbors. We wait until the day after Thanksgiving.....I feel sometimes that the stores rush us through the holidays without giving us time to breathe in between. But I know that lots of people like to have their Christmas decorations up for Thanksgiving. Do you wait or starting putting your Christmas out? Love and hugs to you!!

I laugh when I think about what you said to me when I asked you if you wished you had met him when you were 20 and you said EWWWWW NO - cause that would make me a pedophile. haha. Good things come to those who wait! Love you both!
