Things You Will Never....

...see in the south.

While on our recent trip up north, I discovered a few things that you would never see in the south.  We got quite a kick out of these.

The south has no moose or meese...whatever the plural might be. ;-)  We have deer.  Period.

It is never 58 degrees in the middle of the day in the middle of June.  Ever!

Our signs only show miles, not kilometers.  We have never accepted the metric system.

We never see the fancy Christmas decorations out in June...only the icicle lights hanging on the house.  Occasionally, Santa gets left behind.

No streets with this name in the south.  Just goes against the grain.

Happy Tuesday y'all!

  1. Ha Ha welcome to the North lol! What a difference! I noticed big changes when we went to North Carolina from Chicago. OMG "you all" are the best when it comes to manners and being friendly. Loved that about the south. That southern hospitality shines through. While we can be friendly up here in the North we just do not have that laid back slow motion you find in the south. Have a great week Benita. Happy travels.

    1. LOL...it is definitely different. Everyone was super nice and friendly, but the south does have a slower pace and more of a "y'all come sit a spell and let's chat" attitude...LOL. And during the summer, when the heat sets in, that pace is a heck of a lot slower! Thanks so much Kris! Have a wonderful day!

  2. Loved your "take" on the real north !! Lol I love the street sign's with name's.I came from a town that had real name's like that, now where I live it's all County Road 201 or Township Rd 301. After 18 year's , those are the two I remember , did I say menopause deleted a great percentage of my memory ?!?! Hope you two enjoyed your trip !!! Hug's, TT

    1. Thanks so much!! Menopause is WHY I take so many photos….I forget so much so quickly! LOL The street names were wonderful. We have quite a few County Road signs also, but a few interesting ones as well. I can’t think of them right now, but once I look back through some photos, I can tell you what they are. :-) Here in Nashville, Johnny Cash Parkway is a big deal…LOL We had a wonderful time!! Hugs!!!

  3. Gosh, 58 is winter here! I love road names. When the big push came to name every road in the county for 911 service, if people residing on the road could not choose a name, the county chose a hyphenated name based one the first and last people on the road. Thus names like Peck-Hunter!

    1. I've always said my perfect summer day was a high of 65 and a low of 32...LOL. Monday was pretty mu.ch near perfect for me. Sunday wasn't too bad either...high of 65, a little bit of sunshine and a soft breeze. Had a coat on all day! No one EVER wears a coat in the south during the summer....unless you are shooting for a heat stroke or something. I love road names also....so different and most have a neat history behind them. I like that concept of naming the road...never a boring street name! :-)

  4. So there are no street names in the south? Or just no Snowmobile Road? ;-)

    1. Thank you Stacey! We enjoyed seeing the things that similar and the ones that are different. One huge difference....gas prices. Ours are much lower here in the south!

  7. Cute post! It is so sad (and a pet peeve of mine) when people still have Christmas decorations up in June!! Kinda ruins the season a little!

    1. Thank you! It is one of mine also. I don’t understand why the decorations can’t be taken down and put away. I once had a neighbor who left his Santa and reindeer up on top of his house all year!

  8. How true! I loved each one of these, but oh, how I would love some 58 degree days! I can't believe I just wrote that, not after complaining so much about the long cold winter. We are just never satisfied, are we?

    1. LOL…Dewena, you are so right! But I did love that cooler weather and hated coming back to the heat and humidity!

  9. 58? God, what I wouldn't do for that weather right now... It's a record breaking 100 here today. UGH.

All observation were hilarious and so true.. I moved from California to Virginia, then Ohio and then here in AZ. Talk about your different cultures LOL

    1. I'm with you! I would love to have those cooler temps right now. We haven't broken 100 yet, but with the 90s and high humidity...it's miserable! I do hate that for you though. We will be heading to Texas and straight into those temps. Of course, it will be that high here in Nashville next week, so I suppose there is no getting away from it, unless I run back up north! :-)

And you are right, vast differences from one side of the US to the other, east/west and north/south. Makes life interesting. :-) Hugs!!!
