In the Summertime....

I love fresh veggies during the summer.  Last week, I made a few purchases at the local Farmer's Market.  See those green beans?

Here's a recipe to add a little twist of flavor to those beans!

Seasoned Green Beans (to print, click here)

1 pound whole, fresh green beans (ends trimmed if desired)
2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons (more or less, to taste) Worcestershire sauce
Mix dry ingredients together in small bowl.  Set aside. Bring large pot of water to rolling boil.  Add the beans and boil for 2 minutes.  Drain beans and return to pot.  Toss beans in Worcestershire sauce and add dry spice mixture.  Toss gently.  Sprinkle with bacon bits if desired.  Yield: 3 servings.

Believe me, I know the spice mix is a little off the charts, but you will enjoy the blend of these flavors.  Sweet and a little spicy!  I liked the flavoring so much, I sprinkled more on top of my serving.

You can serve these with any meal.  I paired them with the Low Country Boil and they complimented the flavor of the corn, shrimp, potatoes and sausage perfectly!

Bon App├ętit!

    1. I did too. I thought at first it would be sort of weird with the chili powder and cayenne pepper, but the flavors blend perfectly!

  4. YUM! I love green beans anyway you can imagine. EXCEPT in casseroles. That would break my no mixed up food rule.

    1. I love them also! I used to like them after they had cooked all day long, but now I enjoy them blanched with some added seasoning! I hate green bean casserole. My hubby loves it, so he gets to fix it! :-)
